About Acai Berry Coffee

Here at Acai Berry we take our coffee just as seriously as we take our acai. From the sourcing to the roasting to the brew - each step has been thought about to bring the best tasting Brazilian coffee to our stores with our partners, Volcano Coffee Works. Here’s the story behind each sip…

Like our acai, our coffee is the best of Brazilian

Our coffee comes from the Mió farm estate in Monte Santo de Minas, Brazil, sitting an impressive 900–1,300 metres above sea level (for comparison, London sits on average 42 metres above sea level). The farm sits between the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest biomes.

Single origin, naturally

Our single origin coffee is an arabica coffee, which is grown over 15 hectares of the Mió farm estate. It’s a naturally processed coffee, which means that once harvested, the coffee is left to dry as a whole fruit (seed, fruit, skin). This process allows the coffee to ferment in its own sugars and water, which help influence its flavour and characteristics – making the coffee less acidic.

Roasted to perfection in small batches

Roast refers to the heat and length of time the coffee is roasted for. Ours is a medium roast chosen by Volcano’s Head of Quality and Head of Roasting (what great jobs - we know!), to bring out a balance between the coffee’s natural origin flavours – the sweet and fruity notes and the roasted flavours – the chocolate, caramel, and nutty notes.

At the Volcano’s London roastery, they roast the beans in small batches, carefully monitoring the process to develop its chocolatey and nutty notes while preserving balance and sweetness. This is done through the technology of their roaster - the Loring S70 Peregrine, which alongside our roasting team, is controlled to make sure consistency and the best roast possible.

Goodness in every cup

Our coffee’s life starts at the Mió farm, where the coffee is grown under shade to protect the coffee trees from adverse weather conditions in partnership with Volcano, their sister brand Assembly Coffee, Mió, and the Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo under the Sombra Project. This initiative works to restore native forests, protect biodiversity, and support local communities, meaning every cup of this coffee contributes to sustainable farming and environmental regeneration.

Once harvested, the beans are carefully selected and sea-shipped to Volcano’s South London roastery in West Norwood, where they roast the beans in small batches to bring out their chocolatey, nutty, and sweet flavours. They are then sent to us for our staff to brew for you in our stores.

The final step

All our coffees in our stores are brewed on La Marzocco Linea Classic S machines. Whether you like a latte or a straight-up espresso, we got you.

If you’re a coffee aficionado, then our coffee has notes of dark chocolate, hazelnut and plum, with a hint of sweetness. If you just know you love coffee and can’t start your day without it, then know we have a well-rounded brew, perfect for espresso based coffees with and without milk.

You can also buy bags of our whole bean and ground coffee to use at home from all our stores. Find your nearest store.
