Reformer Pilates FAQs

What is Reformer Pilates?
Reformer Pilates is a form of Pilates performed on a machine called the "reformer," which uses springs, pulleys, and a sliding carriage to provide resistance and support. It’s designed to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and posture through controlled, mindful movement.
What are the benefits of Reformer Pilates?
Reformer Pilates offers a wide range of benefits, including:
-
Increased core strength and stability
-
Improved posture and alignment
-
Enhanced flexibility and mobility
-
Full-body toning
-
Better balance and coordination
-
Low-impact movement that’s gentle on the joints
Is Reformer Pilates suitable for beginners?
Yes! Reformer Pilates is suitable for all levels, including beginners. Our instructors will guide you through each movement and can adjust exercises and resistance to suit your experience and needs. If you’re new, be sure to arrive 15 minutes early so the instructor can take you through the machine set up.
What should I wear to a Reformer Pilates class?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of movement. Grippy socks must be worn and you won’t be able to take part in the class without them - they help prevent slipping and ensure better control during exercises. If you don’t have any - or you forget yours - don’t worry, we sell them in the studio.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. Due to limited reformer machines per session, you must book your class in advance through our website here or the Mindbody (our booking partner) app.
How long are the classes?
Our classes are 50 minutes, which is plenty of time to get a full body workout.
What’s your cancellation and no show policy?
We have a 12-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel more than 12 hours before the class starts, then you’ll get your credit back. If it’s less than 12 hours before the class start time or do not show up, you may incur a £5 fee. This policy helps ensure fair access for all clients and allows us to manage class availability effectively.
When should I arrive for class?
Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the class begins. If you’re new to our studio, we ask that you arrive 15 minutes early, even if you’ve done Reformer Pilates elsewhere. This gives us time to introduce you to the space, cover safety basics, and answer any questions before you start. If you miss the start of the class, you’ll unfortunately be turned away.
Can Reformer Pilates help with injuries or rehabilitation?
Yes. Many people use Reformer Pilates to support injury recovery or manage chronic conditions. It’s low-impact and can be tailored to suit your individual needs. However, we always recommend consulting a healthcare professional before beginning a new exercise program.
I'm pregnant - can I do Reformer Pilates?
Unfortunately we do not offer prenatal-friendly classes, which are designed for safety and support. If you fall pregnant, please let us know and we’ll happily pause, transfer or refund any classes you have already bought with us.
